Macon County Board Members & Committees
County Board
Macon County Board Meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the 2nd Thursday of each month.
The Board Room (Room 514) is located on the 5th floor of the Macon County Office Building, 141 S. Main St., Decatur, IL 62523
Caucuses are @ 5:30 p.m. with the Republicans meeting on the 4th floor & the Democrats on the 8th floor of the County Office Building.
The office of the Macon County Board is headed by the County Board Chairman who:
- Appoints members to County Board Committees;Oversees the operations of offices/departments subject to his appointment: Supervisor of Assessments, Planning and Zoning, Solid Waste, Animal Control.
- Appoints subject to approval of the full County Board members to various boards that oversee such entities as the Macon County Conservation District, the Macon County Health Department, the Mental Health Board, Decatur Sanitary District, Mosquito Abatement District, fire protection and drainage districts, and Regional Planning Commission.
- Prepares the agenda and resolutions for meetings of the Macon County Board as well as minutes for the meetings of its committees.

FOIA Response Time: All Freedom of Information requests will be responded to, in writing, pursuant to the time requirements set forth in the Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”), 5ILCS140/5, et seq. Accordingly, in most cases, requests will be responded to within 5 business days after receipt of the request. In certain circumstances, FOIA may permit a longer time for the County Board to respond to a request. In those cases, the County Board will respond within the longer time allowed by FOIA. Under FOIA, a proper response may consist of a grant of the request, a denial of the request, or a notice that more time is necessary to respond. The Macon County Board will respond to all Freedom of Information requests received.
