The Circuit Court of Macon County is located at 253 East Wood Street, Decatur, Illinois. The work of the court is performed by nine judges and professional staff, including judicial clerks, court reporters, and technology administrator. Each year more than 35,000 new cases are filed. The Circuit Court is a unified court of general jurisdiction. Therefore, the Circuit Court decides all types of cases. Cases filed in the Circuit Court include criminal felony, criminal misdemeanor, probate, guardianship, small claim, major civil litigation, traffic offenses, child support enforcement, dissolution of marriage, domestic violence protection, child neglect and juvenile delinquency.
