March 17, 2026 General Primary Election
The specimen ballots for the upcoming March 17, 2026 General Primary Election are now available.
Early Voting for the General Primary begins on Thursday, February 5, 2026 and will take place at the Early Voting Center located at 151 W. Wood Street, Decatur. Early Voting hours are posted.
Vote By Mail Ballots will be mailed out on February 5, 2026. You can request a Vote By Mail Ballot on the county’s website by clicking here or in person at the county clerk’s office during normal business hours.
2025 Assessment Publication
The publication date for the 2025 assessments is September 27, 2025.
The deadline to file an appeal with the Board of Review is October 27, 2025.

Macon County BESS Ordinance
This ordinance is to advance and protect the public health, safety, morals, comfort, and general welfare of Macon County and its residents by creating regulations for the installation and use of battery energy storage systems (BESS), with the following objectives:
- To provide a regulatory scheme for the designation of properties suitable for the location, construction, and operation of any BESS;
- To ensure compatible land uses in the vicinity of the areas affected by any BESS;
- To mitigate the impacts of any BESS on environmental resources such as important agricultural lands, forests, wetlands, wildlife, and other protected lands and resources; and
- To create synergy between BESS development and other goals of Macon County and its comprehensive plan
