Job Title: Breastfeeding Peer Counselor – Part Time
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and has breastfed at least one baby; recent breastfeeding preferred. Provides Breastfeeding Peer Counselor support within scope of practice to Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) pregnant and breastfeeding mothers by telephone, home visits, and/or hospital visits at schedule intervals determined by the local WIC Program. Must be enthusiastic about breastfeeding and want to help other mothers enjoy a positive experience. Must possess the ability to maintain positive working relationships with clients, co-workers, community partners, and the general public while protecting confidentiality at all times. Must have the ability to work with diverse community groups. Must have a dependable vehicle for use during work hours, valid Illinois Driver’s License, and appropriate auto insurance. Must be physically able to get in and out of a car many times per day in all types of weather and be able to adapt in a positive manner to various client living conditions. Must be able to carry, pull, and manage a minimum of 30 pounds of equipment daily.
Salary: $17.53/hr
